Monitoring and Evaluation Exercise for KISIP II Main Works progress
The C.E.C.M Lands Hon. Ndirangu Gachunia in collaboration with the Nyeri County Project Coordinating Team (CPCT) led by the Project Coordinator Plan. C K Beatrice hosted a team from the State Department of Housing & Urban Development led by Wekesa Jason with the aim of monitoring and evaluating the status and progress of the Main Works under Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Program II (KISIP II) in 5 settlements in Nyeri County.
The teams guided by the Project Manager Eng. Joseph Mwangi afterwards visited the 5 settlements namely Kiawara in Rware ward, Chorong’i & Kiamwathi in Ruring’u ward, Mweiga (Gikomo & Kiawara) in Mweiga ward and Ihwagi in Iriani ward. These settlements were selected under KISIP II component 1.2 – Infrastructure upgrading for infrastructure facelifting including but not limited to Tarmacking of the access road, Construction of storm water drains, Footpaths, Installation of a dumpster, street-lighting, construction of High mast floodlights, Sewer & Water connections.
KISIP 2 is a development project financed by the World Bank, the Government of Kenya and other development partners to systematically scale up the work of KISIP I and reach more settlement and population through the provision of basic infrastructure in participating urban informal settlements and to strengthen institutional capacity for slum upgrading in Kenya.
Others present were; Officers from SDHUD i.e – Beth Mburu & CPA Moses Matayo, CPCT KISIP II M&E Officer Harry Ndumia, Gath Consulting Engineers & Losai Management Ltd JV representatives: Project R.E Eng. Philip Muthee, Assistant Eng. Dalphine Moraa: Contractors’ Site Agent Eng. Saidi Rajabs among other representatives.
