The Government of Kenya is committed to fulfilling its constitutional obligation that guarantees all citizens the right to access quality healthcare; which is now being implemented through Universal Health Coverage(UHC) in a phased scale up approach. Nyeri County identified 13,869 vulnerable households to be sponsored for NHIF cover by the Government of Kenya in phase one. The details of these registered households were forwarded to NHIF and the National Ministry of Health.
On October 31, 2020, NHIF was directed by H.E the President to ensure all indigents and vulnerable households identified by all County Governments for UHC are biometrically registered. This will provide a platform for their identification and verification at the time of accessing health care services at the accredited NHIF health facilities.
The target persons for this registration will include:
- All vulnerable households identified and registered by the County Government of Nyeri in December 2020 for sponsorship into the National indigent scheme.
- All current NHIF Members
- All new Members wishing to join NHIF
Those who have ever registered for NHIF, kindly bring your NHIF cards and those without to bring their National Identity Cards.
For your dependents/ children, bring copies of their birth certificates. Members who have not declared their spouses are reminded to come with proof of marriage documents (marriage certificate or affidavit) together with the IDs of their spouses for inclusion.
This important exercise is scheduled for 31st May to 5th June 2021 at the attached centres across the Sub counties.
