Nyeri County Secures 130 Fully Sponsored Scholarships From The Government of Republic of India

On 6th of September 2018,Nyeri County Deputy Governor H.E Caroline Karugu met The Indian High Commissioner to Kenya, Her Excellency Suchitra Durai and secured one hundred and thirty(130) fully funded scholarships to India in the field of agro-processing and manufacturing through the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC).

Thirty(30) of these scholarships will be specifically offered to empower Nyeri Women through technical education and the rest of the opportunities are open to all youth of Nyeri county. These scholarships are currently available and all women and youth  are urged to apply.

In addition, she stated that Nyeri county is seeking to attract Indian manufacturers and investors who would invest by setting up manufacturing and agro processing plants in the county. Nyeri county being one of the leading agricultural producer of tea,coffee,avocado and macadamia nuts in the country wants to domesticate the value chain of agricultural products by having processing plants across the county and therefore able to export products which would increase revenue and create employment opportunities in Nyeri County.  The County Government is ready to offer incentives such as waivering building approval fees to attract setting up of such industries. We intend to take the early advantage in partnering with the Republic of India through this cooperation and create employment opportunities for the women and youth of Nyeri County.
