Nine Health Facilities in Nyeri County To Be Connected to the National Grid

In an effort to support the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Program in Nyeri, Kenya Power Company has promised to install electricity power in nine public health facilities in Nyeri County.

The company team led by Acting Managing Director and CEO Engineer Jared Otieno who paid a courtesy call to Nyeri Governor H.E. Mutahi Kahiga on 18th August 2018 promised to connect the facilities  immediately and also include some of the surrounding public facilities.

The nine dispensaries include; Rukira Dispensary, Karuthi Dispensary, Thage-ini Dispensary, Gathumbi Dispensary, Iruri Dispensary, Kiambogo Dispensary, Kabati New site, Thung’ari Dispensary and Cieni Dispensary.

The Governor who was accompanied by Nyeri Deputy Governor H.E. Caroline Karugu said the County Government of Nyeri is keen to ensure  there is equity in accessing health services and also improve the quality of health.

The County Government is also joining hands with the company to ensure expansion of street lighting project to enhance security and also improve service delivery within the county.

In attendance were the County Secretary Benjamin Gachichio, CEC Transport, Public Work and Infrastructure Muthui Kariuki, CEC Health Services Dr Rachael Kamau and Chief Officer Health Services Newton Wambugu among other officials.

Nyeri County is proud to be one of the four pilot counties for the Universal health Coverage (UHC).
