The Department of Lands Chief Officer, Mr. Fredrick Maina, chaired the KISIP II Stage II Works Commencement meeting between the Nyeri County Project Coordinating Team (CPCT), Gath Consulting Engineers & Losai Management Ltd led by Eng. Joel Wairua and High Point & Pinnie Agency Limited, led by Ibrahim Ali, a prerequisite to the commencement of works.
The meeting focused on discussing project scope, objectives, deliverables, roles and responsibilities of the County, Contractor, Consultant, communication protocols, programme of works, EHS plan, required permits and approvals, contractual conditions and obligations, site logistics and access, and risk management.
The primary goal of KISIP 2 is to improve living conditions in informal settlements in selected towns in Kenya. The works will be conducted in Chorongi, Ihwagi, Kiamwathi, Kiawara, and Mweiga informal settlements in Nyeri County.
KISIP II is a development project financed by the World Bank, the Government of Kenya, and other development partners to systematically scale up the work of KISIP I and reach more settlements and populations through the provision of basic infrastructure such as high masts, upgrading of access roads, water and sanitation services, footpaths, among others in participating urban informal settlements, and to strengthen institutional capacity for slum upgrading in Kenya.
