- Offering guidance on the handling of hazardous waste.
- Capacity building of waste aggregators on best practices.
- Environmental/Civil education on waste management.
SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
The Department is mandated to handle all refuse and dumpsites management.
The County must provide waste collection facilities (chambers/bins) to hold waste before it is transferable to final disposal site.
Vandalism of waste containers or disturbance of waste disposal sites is prohibited.
The County is authorized to issue strategic directions for collection of refuse charges across the County.
The County in conjunction with NEMA can issue permit/license to vetted private waste operators.
The County may revoke/cancel a waste operator’s permit in the breach of given conditions.
Waste operators permit is not transferable without the consent of the County.
Any duly authorized officer may inspect a residential dwelling or trade premises at any time regarding waste management.
Occupiers/tenants of any building/trade premises must have a sizeable container with a good lid in which the daily domestic waste should be kept.
Premises owners/occupiers of the premises should ensure hazardous/clinical waste is managed to the satisfaction of the County.
Burning and littering of waste is prohibited.
