Through the continued commitment of strengthening of Dairy cooperatives by the County Government of Nyeri across the county, farmers are assured of good returns from the milk sold to these cooperatives.

To this end, Nyeri Governor H.E Mutahi Kahiga today during a meeting with Endarasha Farmers’ Cooperative Society executives led by their chairman Nahashon Ndung’u , gave an assurance that the County Government of Nyeri will provide two more milk coolers to this cooperative. This will be an addition to two other 3000-litres coolers received from the County Government.

These coolers will come a long way in eradicating milk spoilage and wastage as well as enabling farmers gain an extra shilling.

Further, he assured that the County Government of Nyeri will tarmac the feeder road leading to the Cooperative to ease on milk mobility .

CEC Agriculture James Muturi urged farmers to come up with innovative ways of industrializing dairy farming where they can adopt modern farming methods such as food formulation, creation of strategic fodder reserves and centralized management of dairy cattle to enable them reap maximum benefits from this form of agriculture.

This cooperative has 3,000 active members and collects 13,000 litres of milk daily.

The County Government of Nyeri in a bid to strengthen cooperatives and societies across the County, has in the recent past organized a training forum at Deaden Kimathi University for all their leaders to equip them with the requisite skills required to run these cooperatives successfully.
