NYERI FINANCE BILL 2019 SIGNED INTO ACT:

Nyeri Governor H.E. Mutahi Kahiga has signed the Nyeri County Finance Bill, 2019 into an Act.

The County Government of Nyeri has instead widened the revenue streams and base rather than hiking the rates for the socio-economic empowerment of the Nyeri citizenry. In Nyeri town, more parking will be established within town.

The Act will now ensure that the Nyeri town street parking fees will be maintained as Sh 50 per vehicle per day.

Miraa operator’s licences have been reduced from Sh 10,000 to Sh 3,600 per annum while Nissan Matatu county stickers have been reduced from Sh 4,000 to Sh 3,000. Fruit vendors using a trolley will pay Sh 700 from the initial Sh 1,000 per month.

Traders operating peripheral stalls at Karatina Market Hub will be needed to pay only Sh 3,000 from the earlier Sh 10,000 monthly. The Cooperative Society audit fees have also been reduced drastically.

The annual budget will be Sh 7.7 Billion out of which the County Government of Nyeri will collect Sh 1 billion which is its target in the financial year 2019/2020. The revenue raised will ensure that Nyeri residents enjoy the real fruits of devolution since the money will be ploughed back to render essential services and initiate developments.

Speaker of the County Assembly Hon John Kaguchia noted the members of the public owned the Bill since all the memorandums brought on board were considered adding that there is still room for more memorandums for those who would like to petition.
