Kenya National Highway Authority (KENHA) has assured Chaka traders that they will operate their businesses freely.

KENHA team led by Director General Engineer Peter Munindia assured all the traders, Nyeri Governor H.E. Mutahi Kahiga and Kieni MP Kanini Kega,  that the structures of the traders will not  be demolished without them being involved. The leaders who visited the area today also apologized to the traders.

KENHA has promised to rebuild an ablution block which was  destroyed during the demolitions carried out over 10 days ago where many traders  lost goods worth thousands of shillings. They have since been compensated. Mr Munindia also said the officers involved have since been transferred. He vowed to ensure that locals are  involved in any developments including the upgrading of the Kiganjo – Isiolo road to dual carriageway.

On his part, Nyeri Governor H.E Mutahi Kahiga  assured the local residents that services will be improved including installation of street lights in order for them to extend working hours. He vowed to support them until the new modern market being built is complete.
