The County Government of Nyeri and the Kenya Medical Training College have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will help to establish a medical college in Mukurwe-ini constituency.

Nyeri Governor H.E. Mutahi Kahiga and the KMTC Board of Management led by the Chairman Prof. Phillip Kaloki and Vice- Chairman Eng. David Muthoga signed the document on 21st June 2018 t at the Governor’s boardroom.

The County government provided nine acres of land at Wamutitu village and also committed to  work in collaboration with KMTC in raising of funds which will help ensure speedy completion of the projects.

The college students will be offered clinical attachment in the local public health facilities. KMTC is also expected to enroll over 30 per cent of students from Nyeri County.

Governor Mutahi said he will be keen to support Kieni and Mathira constituencies to ensure they establish similar medical college.

Nyeri Deputy Governor H.E.Caroline Karugu, Nyeri Health CEC Dr Rachel Kamau and Lands CEC Dr Kwai Wanjaria were also present.
