Nyeri Governor H.E. Mutahi Kahiga on 28th June 2018 signed the Nyeri County Appropriation Bill 2018 as an Act.

This means that the Executive and the Nyeri County Assembly have finished the budget process and now what remains, is for the National Government to release the funds so that we commence the utilization.

The total budget is Sh 7.6 billion out of which Sh 1 billion will be raised from local revenue.

Out of this, Sh 2.5 billion will go to development and the Heath Sector will receive the lion’s share of Sh 2.6 billion while public works, roads and infrastructure will receive Sh 1 billion.

The Governor thanked the county assembly led by Assembly Budget Chairman Honorable Gibson Wahinya for completing the bill on time.

The timely release and signing of the finance bill, which is actually the first among all others counties in Kenya, was done as per schedule to ensure that ongoing projects do not stagnate and that Wanjiku benefits from the resources.

The County Government is in the process of launching a revenue management system which will ensure more revenue for the county.

Nyeri Finance CEC Robert Thuo and Speaker Honourable John Kaguchia, Wamagana MCA Hon Sebastian Mugo, Kirimukuyu MCA Hon Anthony Ndagita, Nominated MCA Hon Lilian Wanjiku and County Secretary Ben Gachichio were also present.
