1,000 Nyeri youth graduates will be involved in a new agricultural programme which will be an initiative between the County Government of Nyeri, National Government and several private partners.
The agricultural programme will involve, boosting of cooperative dairy farms, extensive data collection from farmers and encouraging the youth to take up agricultural activities.
The team from the Deputy President’s office which is spearheading the initiative paid a courtesy call to Nyeri Governor H.E. Mutahi Kahiga in his office to brief him on the initiative on 11th March 2019.
The team leader who is also the Economic Advisor at the office of DP Dr. Dominic Menjo said this will also help in value addition and create employment.
He said the initiative will be similar to Kibbutz Agriculture Model in the country of Israel.
The Governor lauded the programme saying the County Government of Nyeri is committed to ensure the youth acquire jobs.
Present were Alex Gathii of Tanolope Consultancy which offers business advisory services, acting Agriculture CEC Robert Thuo, Chief Officer Ruth Mwangi, Trade CEC Dianah Kendi, Chief Officer Ibrahim Aden, Youth CEC Esther Ndung’u and Chief Officer Joseph King’ori.
